How do I check the status of my wireless network?

Windows PC

At the bottom right of the screen, in the taskbar, you will find the network icon. You can check the status of your network by placing the mouse pointer over the icon.

If you see one of the icons below, you are connected to both the wireless network and the Internet. If you place the mouse pointer over the icon, the message “network name Internet access” appears on screen.

If you can see one of the icons below, you are connected to the network but no connection can be established to the Internet. If you place the mouse pointer over the icon, the message “network name No Internet access” appears on screen.

Mac OS

The status of a wireless connection is displayed in your computer’s taskbar:
1.    Place the mouse pointer over the network icon, which can be found in the taskbar in the top right-hand part of the screen.

2.    The status of your wireless network will be displayed in a pop-up window.

The pop-up shows a list of all the available networks found by the Mac. The Mac is connected to the network (the router) if a tick (V) appears in front of its name (“Your Network” in the example).
